Anti-contamination films, foils and coatings

    Anti-contamination films, foils and coatings

A myriad array of films and coatings are used to protect pharmaceuticals and medical products from contamination caused by water vapour, oxygen and other vapours.  Sometimes you need to keep them in, sometimes allow them to flow and sometimes to keep them out.  It affects everything from unitary-dose capsules to isolation clothing and from medical gasses to gloves.  The first can lose potency the others may fail.

Measuring the critical permeability for any and all of the gases used in medical or pharmaceutical areas has now been made faster, simpler and more accurate with the new Vapour Permeability MS (Mass Spectrometer) measurement system from Versaperm.

The equipment has an highly automated computerised control and can cope with several material samples or finished products at a time - and results are usually accurate to better than one part per million (PPM)  - and parts per billion (PPB) for some.

As an added advantage it needs at most minimal training and can sometimes give results in as little as 30 minutes.  Conventionally (gravimetric) measurements may take several days to weeks and can give significantly less reliable results.

A permeability testing service is also available from Versaperm - usually with a 24 hour turn around.
